Goal #1 - Get Accepted into an Internship by the end of March 2023
I started working as a shift supervisor at Starbucks Coffee Company in November of 2021 and have been with the company since January of 2020. A benefit of working for Starbucks is that you have an opportunity to participate in the Starbucks College Achievement Plan or the SCAP. Through the SCAP I have access to a lot of resources and tools here at Arizona State University. Through Arizona State University's partnership with Handshake, I have applied for several internships this winter and I am currently waiting to hear back from them. My goal is to be accepted into one of the four positions I applied to before the end of March of 2023. I want to complete an internship before I graduate this summer, which means that I would ideally start any of these internships in late May or early June of 2023. I believe that an internship will benefit me greatly because I have little to no on the job experience in my respective field and it would give me the opportunity to work with people who know what it is like to work in the field and establish a network of peers.
Goal #2 - Promote to Store Manager by February of 2024
Throughout college I have learned a lot about my capabilities when it comes to workload management. I am the type of person that wants to give 100 percent of my effort and fully commit myself to the projects that I participate in. For that reason, I have communicated to my leadership team that I have a desire to promote to an Assistant Store Manager and then a Store Manager shortly after my graduation from Arizona State University's Organizational Leadership Bachelors program in the summer of 2023. To promote to Store Manager, I have to first spend six months as an Assistant Store manager. I established my timeline this way because If I promoted to be an ASM by August of 2023 that would put me on track to promote again by February of 2024.
Goal #3 - Apply to a Masters Program by 2025
I have spent a large fraction of the first part of my life working towards higher education. Upon completion of my bachelors degree, I want to spend a year working in a career and gain some real experience. I feel like a year of work experience will give me time to establish a network of peers as well as evaluate different masters programs that I may be interested in. I believe that this goal is realistic because I will still be fresh out of school and highly motivated to get my masters degree. I think that waiting a year will be beneficial because I will be able to compare real life experience to the lessons that I would learn in a masters program.
Goal #4 - Improve Work-Life Balance by attending Training Seminars
Over the course of my education at Arizona State University, I have learned a lot about creating routines that help me fulfill my needs. I believe that I could be more effective in managing the time that I spend between work and home and I would like to learn about news ways to do that. I learn best by doing things myself and watching other people give a speech or visual presentation. That is why I think a seminar with different speakers and opportunities to practice methods would be very beneficial to me. I perform best when I have role clarity, am satisfied in my role, and can spend time at home without stressing about work after business hours. I would like to attend my first seminar during or shortly after January of 2024 and continue to attend one at least once a year for five straight years. I think that this goal is more relevant to me that it may appear to viewers because when I am able to spend an appropriate amount of time nurturing my relationships in my work life and in my home life I am a very motived employee.
